Information Services Meeting Update
March 30, 2010

• 11/17 regions represented
• Reinhard Taylor of Region 3 accepted chair
• Clarification: The Information Handbook that was intended to be disseminated following the convention was held by the IRTA Office and President for further editing. This was initiated at the meeting, and it is a work in progress. Eventually a copy will be sent to the unit President and Public Relations/Information designee. I shared a rough draft at my visit to each of your units in 2009.
• Our primary goal: To establish on-going communication network with all units through direct contact or technology.
• Jim Bachman provided a legislative update, emphasizing the example of recent passage of SB1946 to change the pension format which was rushed through intentionally within a matter of hours. We need to stay on guard.

• Primary goals for your unit:
1. Promote and educate implementation of VoterVOICE
2. Advise all your members to utilize technology or have a mentor assist
them to get to the IRTA website where you can retrieve state, area,
regional and unit information. Utilize the library or a grandchild.
www.irtaonline.org
3. Keep your local website updated at the state level with Tricia Klim by sending updates to tricia@irta.online.org
4. Continue to attempt to identify a technologically-savvy person in your
area to develop and maintain a local website.
